Jason Heyward returned to the Braves lineup on Monday after missing six games with a hamstring injury and he made sure he came back with a bang.
With two outs and two men on base in the bottom of the ninth of a 2-1 game, Heyward had to chase down a line drive off the bat of Mets pinch hitter Justin Turner. If the ball landed, the Mets certainly would have tied, if not won, the game. Instead, Heyward laid out for an incredible game-saving grab and sealed the victory for his Braves. I’m no doctor, but that hamstring looks pretty okay to me.
The look on Braves closer Craig Kimbrel’s face pretty much says it all – “oh my god.”
