Giants pitcher Yusmeiro Petit came within one out of a perfect game last night against the Diamondbacks in a heartbreaking moment in sports. The best thing about it is Petit isn’t really a well known guy, and probably one of the last people we’d expect this from, furthering the beauty of baseball.
The perfect game was broken up by pinch hitter Eric Chavez who looped one into right field. Right fielder Hunter Pence booked it as hard as he could for the diving grab but couldn’t quite make it, and was visibly upset. He followed up the night’s event later on with this tweet:
Ahhhh felt like the dream where you just can’t run fast enough!!! So close, great game Yas #clutch

Tough break for Petit and the Giants, but an unbelievable performance.
