Harold Reynolds is not the most well-liked sports personality. The MLB Network and FOX Sports baseball analyst is routinely blasted by the masses for his odd remarks, debatable comparisons and bumbling observations.
He joined Joe Buck in the booth for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game and, immediately upon coming on the broadcast, was systematically obliterated on social media for anything and everything. Although not every dig was necessary or justified, one of his comments definitely deserved some heat…and he got it.
The broadcasting crew was discussing some of the game’s legends during the pregame festivities and during the early innings of the game. At which time Reynolds commented on Jackie Robinson’s age when he made his MLB debut, comparing him to Giants catcher Buster Posey. Robinson was 28 years old when he debuted for the Dodgers in 1947, an age that would be considered ancient in today’s game.
Reynolds said Robinson did not make play in a big league until that age because they held rookies back longer during that time and he hadn’t completely figured out the game.
And then came the heat:
Yeah, Harold Reynolds. Jackie Robinson was a rookie at the age of 28 because they held rookies back longer and for NO OTHER REASON

Harold Reynolds: “And to think, Buster Posey is the same age as Jackie Robinson when he won ROY” Yeah geez Joe what was Jackie’s problem?

That thing Harold Reynolds just said about Jackie Robinson’s age vs. Buster Posey’s age is mind-numbingly stupid.

Is Harold Reynolds not aware that Jackie Robinson did not make his MLB rookie debut till age 28 because of segregation?
