Switch-hitting power hitter Anthony Santander is in high demand this offseason, and he’s reportedly seeking a contract in the neighborhood of $100 million.
He’s coming off a standout campaign with the Baltimore Orioles where he slashed .235/.308/.506 with 44 home runs, 102 RBI, and a career-best .814 OPS. The 30-year-old earned a Silver Slugger Award.
The Toronto Blue Jays Jays have reportedly made an offer to Santander. Adding his bat into a lineup that already possesses Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would make Toronto’s offense one of the most powerful in baseball. Guerrero becomes a free agent after the 2025 season and the Blue Jays front office made it clear they will make the pursuit to extend him. After missing out on numerous notable free agents over the last few years, if Toronto does land Santander, it could mean the beginning of more aggressive and expensive signings.
The Los Angeles Angels, who have been very active with roster additions this winter, also reportedly made an offer to Santander at four years, $82 million. The rebuilding Angels will likely need to up that offer to realistically appeal to the slugger.
