David Wise battled the sloppy snow and sleet to take home the gold medal in half-pipe skiing on Tuesday.
Once the American finished his run he looked to the crowd and saw his wife Lexi holding an enlarged picture of his 2-year-old daughter Nayeli.
“Almost the first thing I saw when I finished my first run was this little face smiling back to me,” Wise said. “I could just feel her spirit cheering for me, and my family there supporting me.”
Despite his adorable daughter not being in Sochi to give her daddy a big congratulatory kiss, she did so from home – through the television in Reno, Nevada. Another great Olympic moment.
