Over the past few days, there have been rumors swirling that LIV Golf had made an offer to superstar golfer Rory McIlroy and that McIlroy was considering joining the Saudi-backed league. But he shut down those talks this week.
During an interview with Todd Lewis of the Golf Channel, Rory McIlroy made it clear that he will not be joining LIV Golf and doesn’t know where the rumors came from.
“I honestly don’t know why these things get started,” McIlroy said. “I’ve never been offered a number from LIV and I’ve never contemplated going to LIV.
“I think I’ve made it clear over the past two years that I don’t think it’s something for me. Doesn’t mean that I judge people that have gone and played over there. I think one of the things that I have realized over the past two years is people can make their own decisions for whatever they think is best for themselves and who are we to judge them for that.”

As for McIlroy, he intends to stay with the PGA Tour and is not interested in LIV Golf.
“Personally for me, my future is here on the PGA Tour and it’s never been anything different,” McIlroy said.
“It’s never even been a conversation for us,” McIlroy continued. “I’m obviously here today, I’m playing this PGA Tour event next week, and I will play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career.”
It’s a pretty clear statement from McIlroy.
