In case you needed another indicator that Tiger Woods isn’t the dominant force in golf that he once was, look no further than the cover of EA Sports’ new PGA video game.
Nearly two years after EA and Tiger Woods decided to mutually end their 15-year partnership and kill the critically-acclaimed Tiger Woods PGA Tour series of video games, the brand has officially invested in a new face and name for its golf franchise.
On Monday, EA Sports announced Rory McIlroy PGA Tour – the company’s first PGA release since 2013 and the first-ever without Woods’ namesake. Tiger will also not appear in the game for the first time since the series was introduced in 1998.
McIlroy, the world’s current top-ranked golfer, will have some big shoes to fill. The first installment of the series is expected to be released early this June.
