Nice’s Valentin Eysseric has been handed an eleven-match ban by the French Professional League’s (LFP) disciplinary committee for his horrific leg-breaking tackle on St. Etienne’s Jeremy Clement last Saturday.
In the 23rd minute of the Ligue 1 match, Eysseric was shown a red card for his terrible challenge on Clement, who had to taken in for surgery to repair his fractured tibia shortly after he was stretchered off the field.
This comes at a bad time for Nice and more specifically, Eysseric, as this suspension will force him to miss the rest of the season–a season in which Nice sits only two points behind St. Etienne for fourth place and a shot at the Champion’s League.
Clement, on the other hand, will miss up to six months due to his injury.
Here’s a look at the tackle that landed Eysseric the eleven-match ban. WARNING: This video could be too graphic for some viewers.
