You knew high school football in Texas was big, but did you know it was THIS big? A high school in Allen, Texas recently completed construction on a $60 million stadium for the school’s football team, which happens to be one of the best programs not only in Texas, but in the United States as well.
The new Allen I.S.D. Stadium holds 18,000 seats (Allen High has enrollment of more than 5,600 students), the stadium also features an HD video board for instant replay that is 75′ by 45′, which is pretty amazing considering some top COLLEGE football programs in Texas (like Baylor, for instance) don’t even have a videoboard for replays.
Allen’s stadium sits on a 72-acre plot of land and boasts 5,050 parking spaces and two end-zone activity plazas that can be rented on game days. The stadium also features 42 concession serving lines along with a three-level press box complete with filming decks for the media and coaches.
The facility is also used for some of Allen’s other sports, including soccer and wrestling. There is a golf practice facility under the stands that is used by the men’s and women’s golf team as well. All of Allen’s athletes use the 12,000 square foot weight room located inside the facility.
Not a bad little stadium, huh? Hit the next button to see some more pics.
