Good news for the Irish faithful, even if they are still a bit embarrassed by Notre Dame’s poor performance in the BCS championship game. Brian Kelly announced on Saturday that he will be staying in South Bend, Indiana for the foreseeable future.
“This week, I had an incredible opportunity to speak with one of the premier organizations in sports about becoming their head coach,” Kelly said in the statement released by Notre Dame. “Like every kid who has ever put on a pair of football cleats, I have had thoughts about being a part of the NFL. However, after much reflection and conversation with those closest to me, I have decided to remain at Notre Dame.”
I’m always a fan of college coaches staying put, instead of opting for the NFL. However, I do question this call as I’m not sure that Brian Kelly can duplicate the regular season he just had.
