David Beckham is reportedly on the verge of signing an eighteen month, eighteen million dollar deal to finish his career with Paris Saint-Germain of the French Ligue 1.
PSG’s Qatari ownership group have deep pockets and are ready to open them up for the high profile Beckham even as he comes off another season impacted by injury. Beckham has acknowledged he played the LA Galaxy’s MLS Cup final win with an injured leg.
While no deal has been officially announced, PSG president Nesser Al-Khelaifi has made it clear that Beckham will be opting for PSG over rival suitors Tottenham according to Britain’s DailyMail newspaper:
On Thursday Al-Khelaifi admitted that the decision for Beckham was ‘between Tottenham and PSG’, but it is understood the deal has since moved on in favour of a switch to France.
Signing Beckham will bring the Paris club instant global notoriety, accelerated merchandise sales, and a constant media presence. For Beckham it is a chance to play back in Europe, on a Champions League side, and take home a nice chunk of change in the process.
