Stephen A. Smith has a new contract and a lot of people think it is a joke. The highly criticized ESPN personality will earn north of $3 million per year under his new deal, a figure that puts Smith above most of the athletes and coaches that he discusses.
The television and radio show host has found himself under heavy scrutiny on numerous occasions over the last decade but he continues to be a significant draw for the massive sports network. Like it or not, ESPN sees Smith has a valuable asset and believes he should be paid accordingly. As a result, people unleashed some fury on both Smith and ESPN after the details were released.
