DeSean Jackson’s new reality show “Home Town” premiered on BET Tuesday night, and he had some not-so-nice things to say about his former team.
Jackson, now a member of the Washington Redskins, was released by the Philadelphia Eagles over a year ago after a report claimed he was affiliated with gangs. In the episode, he explained just how unfair the whole situation was.
“I was at the top of the top…and then I got released,” Jackson said according to CBS Philly. “It was a smear campaign. Things the media said about me, I bet you could say that about the majority of people in the NFL. I mean, it’s their loss. I got a second chance to play in the NFL now with the Washington Redskins and I’m proving I’m one of the best receivers in the game.”
“When I was released by the Eagles, I felt they tried to paint a picture that definitely wasn’t true. It was a slap in the face coming off one of my best seasons in the NFL. It’s like, bro, the Eagles tried to blow me up. That’s cold how they did me.”
Jackson has flashed gang signs in photos and even during games before. Still, he has a reason to be displeased with the way the Eagles handled matters since there wasn’t any conclusive evidence of him doing anything wrong off the field. He went on to have a solid 2014 season for the Redskins, so it seems it really was Philly’s loss after all.
