According to the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI now is the proud owner of an official Twitter account but won’t be Tweeting to the masses (see what I did there) until Dec. 12th. The pope will rock the Twitter handle @pontifex. His Holiness has racked up over 160k Twitter followers since the announcement and is currently following only 7 folks (which according to Mashable, are all versions of the same account in different languages: German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Italian, French and Arabic).
