Memphis Grizzlies defensive specialist Tony Allen committed one of the classic blunders of karaoke Tuesday night when he decided it’d be a good idea to rap along to Montell Jordan’s classic mid-90s hit “This Is How We Do It”. As with many popular rap songs, most people don’t realize how few lines they actually know until the spotlight is on (the worst example of this is “Baby Got Back”, which I’ve never seen anyone pull off even remotely accurately — well, until the “my anaconda don’t want none…” part, because that’s the only part everyone knows).
Mr. Allen discovered this quickly, and wallowed in his shame on Twitter shortly after.
I can’t believe I was having trouble with the words 2 / “This is how we Do it!!

He wasn’t to be deterred though, as he grabbed the mic a second time and tackled Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” — a song that actually involves singing, but where the words don’t move quite as fast. Good choice, Tony.
