Stuart Scott’s legacy as a sportscaster extends far beyond funny catchphrases, but they were certainly one of the many things that made him so beloved in the world sports media over the years. Following his passing this weekend, The Virginian-Pilot decided to honor Scott in their Monday edition not only with an article reflecting on his life, but also by cleverly placing his most famous catchphrases – including “as cool as the other side of the pillow, “call him butter because he’s on a roll,” and “Booyah!” – throughout the newspaper’s sports headlines.
It was a very cool and unique tribute to a man who’s had such an impact on the world of sports journalism for much of the past few decades.
