So, this was an interesting thing that happened on the latest episode of Katie Nolan’s “Garbage Time” over the weekend. Nolan, a Fox Sports employee, absolutely shredded an article posted on Outkick The Coverage, one of the blogs under the Fox Sports dot com’s umbrella, about “How to Land a Husband at The Masters.”
Predictably, the article received some well-deserved criticism because it was sexist and, in general, just a steaming piece of garbage. If you’d like to confirm that for yourself, go right ahead.
Nolan, whose sharpness in addressing some of sports’ social issues is one of the big reasons she landed her own show at Fox to begin with, absolutely laid waste to the article, its author, Rebecca Johnson, and Outkick The Coverage’s editor, Clay Travis, in witty and sarcastic fashion.
While it’s pretty refreshing to see someone in the sports media have the guts to put their own employer on blast when they deserve it (*ahem* ESPN *ahem*) it’s also frustrating to know that Nolan’s evisceration not only creates for very entertaining television, but also draws more attention (and traffic) to the piece, creating a win-win for Fox Sports.
