I thought that this was ridiculous before I saw the actual picture of the fantastic Tibetan mastiff puppy and I realized that I WAS BEING RIDICULOUS. Just look at this rare ancient breed!!!
According to the NY Daily News:
The ultra-pricey pooches are a status symbol among China’s wealthy.
“Pure Tibetan mastiffs are very rare, just like our nationally treasured pandas, so the prices are so high,” said the dog’s breeder Zhang Gengyun, according to AFP.
One red mastiff named “Big Splash” reportedly sold for 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) in 2011, the most expensive dog sale then recorded.
I need one of these for the office ASAP.
