Jim Tressel is a legend around the Ohio State Buckeyes football program after leading the team to a national title in 2002 and turning the tide in the rivalry against the Michigan Wolverines with a 9-1 record in The Game. And this week, he was back at Ohio State to share a special message for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day brought Jim Tressel back to the program this week to speak to the team, and Jim Tressel had a simple but strong message to this year’s Buckeye football team about just what it means to play for Ohio State.
“Carry the banner,” Tressel said in a video shared by the team’s official X account. “Be proud, because when you get old and come back and look, you’re gonna say, ‘I can’t believe God gave me a chance to be a Buckeye.’ Because there’s nothing like it.”
It’s a blessing to be a Buckeye 🗣️🌰

Ohio State has suffered three straight losses to the Michigan Wolverines for the firs time in nearly three decades. The Buckeyes will now be trying to turn the tide in that rivalry this season just as Tressel did when he took over as head coach in 2001.
We’ll have to see if Ohio State can do it, but it’s clear they’ll have the support from Tressel.
