The Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns are set to face off in the Cotton Bowl Classic on Friday evening as part of the College Football Playoff semifinals. But some inclement weather headed toward Dallas could force some problems.
Dallas is expected to see temperatures in the 30s with a wintry mix of weather and an 83-percent chance of precipitation on Thursday. But things are supposed to get worse on Friday, the day of the game.
On Friday, temperatures are expected to low as 25 degrees with strong winds and morning snow showers. Some projections even suggest that there could be up to 12 inches of snow in the area.
While the game itself will be played inside and out of the elements underneath AT&T Stadium’s covered roof, the weather could make travel to and from the game quite difficult for fans, the teams, and everyone else involved in the game.
As of now, however, it sounds like the game is set to kick off as planned.
On Tuesday, Cotton Bowl officials released a statement indicating that the game is still set to be played as scheduled, they are “monitoring” the situation and “have plans for inclement weather.”
“We are routinely monitoring weather reports and we are in close contact with AT&T Stadium and local officials. We always have plans for inclement weather. Should conditions warrant it, we will communicate to everyone attending and connected with this year’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic,” the statement read, according to Fox 4.
The game is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET from Arlington, Texas.
We’ll have to see whether or not the weather forces any changes to that schedule.
