Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark has taken the sports world by storm with her impressive play, which has even led to talk of Clark competing against male competition in the Big3 League. But despite this, one team of non-basketball players seem to believe that they would easily beat Clark in a one-on-one basketball game.
There is something to be said about the difference between male athletes and female athletes. Can Caitlin Clark beat LeBron James in a one-on-one basketball game? Most would largely agree that the answer is certainly no.
However, Caitlin Clark against an athlete who doesn’t play basketball would likely be a completely different story in the eyes of most.
Duke football players, however, by and large, do not believe this would be the case. Several Duke players were asked what a game versus Clark would look like. Of the nine players asked to give a score for the game, all but two said that they would beat Clark. A number of the players even said that they would keep Clark scoreless.
Obviously, it is a bit absurd for a bunch of football players to say that they could beat the all-time scoring leader in NCAA history, regardless of gender, in a one-on-one basketball game.
Yes, most if not all of them would have a size advantage on Clark. But at some point, skill has to come into account. Simply put, Clark is amongst the most skilled basketball players on the planet.
Caitlin Clark has received the respect of much of the sports world in the past few years thanks to her tremendous play in college. But even now after all her achievements, she clearly deserves even more respect than she is getting.
