Over the past few seasons, Justin Herbert has emerged as one of the most dominant and prolific passers in the entire league. And even though the Los Angeles Chargers have a new head coach with Jim Harbaugh taking over, it sounds like the team is still very committed to him as their starter.
According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, both the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings reached out to the Los Angeles Rams with interest in acquiring quarterback Justin Herbert, but the Los Angeles Chargers were not at all interested in trading their star quarterback.
“In recent weeks, both the Patriots and Vikings reached out to the Chargers to see if they had any interest in trading QB Justin Herbert, per league sources. The answer was, very quickly, ‘a flat no.’ Not only do the Chargers love Herbert, but they also would have had to take on a $63.5 million cap charge for the coming season at a time they have $32.3 million of cap space,” said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
It’s clear that even with a new head coach, the Chargers see Herbert as their quarterback for the foreseeable future.
