The NFL is taking a harder stance than initially thought when it comes to Brandon Marshall’s plans to wear green shoes when the Bears take the field on Thursday night against the New York Giants. The odd part about the hard stance is that Brandon is doing it for a good cause, as he is trying to draw more attention for Mental Health Awareness Week, lasts until Saturday. Marshall was diagnosed with ‘borderline personality disorder in 2011.’
Initially Marshall thought he would just be fined and he would turn that into a way to donate to his cause:
“I’m going to get fined and I’m going to match that, and we want to partner with a cancer-care [charity],” Marshall said. “We’re still working on the details to give, really give back to an organization that is doing work in the mental health area. [Also], the diagnosis of breast cancer can hit families hard. It affects all of us.”
However, now it appears the NFL won’t even let him on the field. It should be interesting to see what happens next.
