After the Golden State Warriors bowed out in the second round of the playoffs last spring, everyone assumed they’d take a step back this upcoming season, and for two reasons: 1) they wouldn’t be able to retain their exciting young roster, and 2) the Western Conference would probably be even more competitive in 2013-14. To be fair, both assumptions turned out to be true.
Sixth man Jarrett Jack is now a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City should be back to full health with the return of Russell Westbrook, and the Houston Rockets added Dwight Howard to run alongside James Harden. What people didn’t plan for was Golden State’s counter move: adding coveted defensive ace Andre Iguodala to the rotation.
The roster moves clearly have Warriors fans giddy with anticipation for the 2013-14 NBA season, as season ticket sales blew the roof off Oracle Arena — the franchise recently hit the 14,000 mark. To commemorate the milestone, second-year forward Harrison Barnes hopped on the phone, and personally thanked the fan who put the sales over the top by offering to pay for his season tickets.
