The Buffalo Bills have signed infamous former “golden boy” Matt Leinart to the roster, in order to provide depth behind rookie E.J. Manuel and second tier QB Kevin Kolb. After a standout career as a USC Trojan, Leinart has managed to play for four different squads; as his NFL career has been a huge disappointment, especially after becoming the 10th overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft. Long story short: Matty boy has become the poster boy for NFL bust.
In six seasons Leinart, has compiled a 57.1 completion percentage, while accounting for 15 TDs to 21 Interceptions in 33 games played.
Now 30, Leinart appeared in two games with Oakland last season, completing 16-of-33 throws for 115 yards and an interception. Leinart lacks mobility and starting-caliber arm strength, and is no more than insurance as E.J. Manuel (knee scope) and Kevin Kolb (concussion) nurse injuries. The Bills are still holding out hope Manuel will be able to start in Week 1 against the Patriots.
