The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in the Taylor family — in this case, it’s an allegedly very rotten apple. Lawrence Taylor, Jr., son of Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, was arrested Sunday on charges of statutory rape, aggravated child molestation, and statutory aggravated sodomy. All three charges are felonies.
The charges stem from alleged sexual interactions with two underage victims, both of whom are under age 16 (according to charging papers, the 6’1″, 230-pound Taylor, Jr. was born in 1981). A conviction on the statutory rape or the molestation charge could net Taylor, Jr. a 25 years-to-life prison sentence.
If this feels a little bit like deja vu, you wouldn’t be mistaken. If you recall, the elder Taylor was arrested in 2010 on charges of soliciting an underage prostitute, ultimately copping a guilty plea to one count of patronizing a prostitute. However, the charges against his son appear to be a far more serious matter.
