The campaign to vote David Wright into the All-Star Game got major headway last week when the cougars gave him their support, and now with Wright gaining ground on Pablo Sandoval for the lead in third base voting, other Mets fans in positions of power are doing everything they can for their team’s star player.
NY WFAN radio personalities Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton not only advocate for votes for David on a daily basis, but also get the help from some guests who fill out ballots on the show. On Friday, the radio hosts are putting together what they are calling a “sweatshop” where a bunch of young women are going to sit around filling out ballots.
If New York fans think that’s not enough, they can head out to Modells to fill out a ballot for David and be entered in a contest to win a trip for two to an undecided destination.
Wright is certainly a deserving candidate, leading NL third basemen in AVG (.296) and OBP (.385).
Regardless of the voting results, Mets fans deserve credit for clinging desperately to any bright spots they can in the midst of an abysmal season.
