Some people are born into awful situations, for instance this 4-year-old was born into a Mets family. He just has to accept losing and hope for a title run every 20 years or so. The young child decides to ditch the blue and orange for pinstripes. He becomes a Yankees fan because of the Mets have been constantly losing this year, but that backfired when the New York Mets surprised everyone and swept the New York Yankees in their four game series. Now the child wants to flip-flop back to being a Mets fan because they won four games of their 162 games. The dad attempts to teach his kid that losing is a part of life, but the kid doesn’t want to hear it. While frontrunning sounds like a utopian sports philosophy it will only leave you unsatisfied. You won’t have the same attachment to your winning team as if you had sticking with a team through their highs and lows. As Helen Keller once said, “The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse.” The lesson learned here is stop being a frontrunner, nobody likes a frontrunner.
