As the American Athletic Conference gets ready to debut this fall, it launched its new logo and brand treatment this morning. The league commissioned two advertising firms to come up with concepts and sought feedback from from coaches, school administrators and players throughout the conference.
From AAC commissioner Mike Aresco:
“It’s a bold look,” Aresco said. “Obviously this is a media world we live in, and we wanted to make sure we had the kind of mark that would be distinctive and would make an impact when people saw it. We wanted it to be something people would like and remember, but the notion really was to make it as simple as possible but also strong.”
The AAC consists of 10 teams:
From the Big East:
Louisville
Rutgers
UConn
South Florida
Cincinnati
Temple
From Conference USA:
Houston
SMU
Central Florida
Memphis
In 2014 the AAC will add East Carolina, Tulane and Tulsa.
