A closed circuit camera captured a terrifying scene when a security guard was swallowed up by a four-story sinkhole in Shezhen, China.
The man, 25-year-old Yang Jiabin, was walking on a sidewalk in the Futian district near a construction site when the ground under him gave out; opening into a massive 26 foot-wide, 52 foot-deep hole. Unfortunately, Jiabin did not survive the accident despite efforts of paramedics to save him.
In the pictures below, you can see the construction next to the sinkhole which appears to be the foundation for a skyscraper or very large building.
According to the International Business Times, nearly 100 sinkholes were reported in Beijing between July and August of 2012.
Earlier this year, we reported about a man that fell into a sinkhole while playing golf in St. Louis, MO. Luckily for him the sinkhole he fell into was only 18-feet deep and he survived the fall thanks to some help from his friends.
