Mike Tyson is used to appearing as himself on screen, whether it be on late night talk shows, his Animal Planet reality show, or well-received appearances in the first two Hangover films. Now, he’s stepping outside the box a bit — emphasis on “a bit” — and tackling his first dramatic role on an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU.
The former heavyweight champion plays Reggie Rhodes, a murderer on death row who, according to E!, “had an unfortunate upbringing and became a very violent individual” (see, not too much of a stretch). Tyson, who is also slated to tour his one-man Broadway play, appears alongside Andre Braugher, who plays a defense attorney who takes interest in his case. No plot details have been released beyond that, but as always with Iron Mike, it’s appointment television.
