Due to a bit of unfortunate timing, LeBron James and Michael Jordan never faced each other on an NBA court — Jordan retired in the spring of 2003, six months before LeBron entered the league. However, the dream of playing against his childhood idol never left James’ mind. In fact, he carries a visual reminder with him at all times, by way of his cell phone screensaver. The above Photoshop job depicting King James squaring up against His Airness is the alleged image that greets LeBron morning, noon and night, as he continues his quest to become the greatest player of all time.
LeBron revealed the image’s existence at a reception honoring his Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year award:
[Michael] Jordan was my superhero growing up. He was the guy I feel helped me get to where I am today. As a competitor, who would not want to go against the best? That’s like asking [Tom] Brady would he want to go against Montana in the fourth quarter.
