Five years ago today, the NFL football family lost a great father, friend and player in safety Sean Taylor. Sean Taylor followed in the footsteps of former Miami Hurricane greats as he established himself as a force in the defensive back field in college and at the pro level. After winning a BCS National Championship in 2001, Taylor was drafted by the Washington Redskins 5th overall and during his tenure became a 2 time Pro Bowl selection in 2006 and 2007.
Although he did have a bit of a checkered history growing up in the rougher areas of the Miami, nobody could imagine that Sean Taylor would die the way he did. Taylor was shot on November 26th at 1:15am as an intruder tried to enter his home. As a result he was wounded in his femoral artery. The NFL community stood in shock as the news hit the media and lost a true warrior. Without this horrible incident Sean Taylor most likely would still be gracing NFL fields today however most importantly his daughter would have known the great man her father was and was in the midst of becoming.
