David Akers of the San Francisco 49ers tied the NFL record for longest field goal when he hit a 63-yard field goal to end the half to put the 49ers up 16-7 over the Green Bay Packers. David Akers joined the ranks of Tom Dempsey (1970), Jason Elam (1998), and Sebastian Janikowski (2011) for the record of longest NFL field goal.
