Kansas City Chiefs wide out Dwayne Bowe has signed the franchise tender after missing the beginning of training camp and the first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. Bowe is set to make $9.5 million this season–the going rate for franchised wide recievers.
The Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Bowe in March and had until July 16th to work out a long-term deal, but failed to do so.
Bowe is unlikely to play in the Chiefs second preseason game versus the St. Louis Rams, this weeked. Bowe is a vital part of the Kansas City offense, catching 81 passes last season on an average of 14.1 yards-per-catch. Bowe struggled to find the endzone however, scoring only five times from his previous year of 15 touchdowns.
