Two former Bengals have warranted updates in the 2012 Cosby Sweaters Team Depth Charts as the Miami Dolphins released Chad Johnson following his weekend arrest, although Joe Philbin maintains one specific incident did not contribute to his release. Also, the Packers finally signed Cedric Benson after days of speculation following last week’s visit with the front office.
Johnson would have been fighting Davone Bess and Brian Hartline for the #1 WR spot in Miami whereas Benson was fighting just to be signed and continue proving he was not a major draft bust.
Benson likely will take over the running back duties with Aaron Rodgers and the 1st Team offense following injuries to James Starks and Brandon Saine. Both injuries are considered minor but neither back nor ACL recoveree Alex Green or rookie Marc Tyler provided optimism in their preseason loss to the Chargers last week.
