Jerri Peterson, who hails from Atlanta, GA was selected this year to carry the Olympic torch through Derby on June 30th after being nominated by the hotel chain that she works for. The excitement became almost too much, and she decided to commemorate the momentous occasion by getting a tattoo. The tattoo was supposed to read “Olympic Torch Bearer,” however after checking out the tattoo she had just received, she was slightly disappointed. The tattoo artist had misspelled “Olympic” and now Jerri was stuck with a tattoo that read “Oylmpic Torch Bearer.”
According to Jerri:
“I looked at it and I was so disappointed. I called my husband and he giggled a little bit. Then I started laughing about it and I’ve laughed ever since.”
She went on to mention how badly the tattoo artist felt about the error, but decided against changing it. She said “It’s the Oy-limpics – it’s as unique as I am.” Now, that is a good sport.
