San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson will undergo reconstructive Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Thursday in Pensacola, Florida. The procedure will be performed by Dr. James Andrews with the assistance of Giants team orthopedist Dr. Ken Akizuki. Dr. Andrews confirmed the Giants’ report that Wilson had a torn ulnar collateral ligament Wednesday.
Wilson is expected to re-join his teammates next weekend after the Giants return from a road trip at New York and Cincinnati but only as a spectator, as the injury will put the all-star out for the remainder of the season.
It’s safe to say that the only “fear the beard” chants we will be hearing from now on will be for Oklahoma City’s sixth man of the year, James Harden.
