Not sure who hasn’t head of Nike Air at this point but Nike and Foot Locker have collaborated to create an old school/new school cartoon super hero athlete mashup supporting the brand. Combining Bo Jackson, Ken Griffey Jr. and Charles Barkley with current players Allyson Felix, Megan Rapinoe, Clay Matthews and Kevin Durant make this one work whether you tune in to ESPN every day or haven’t watched sports since the mid-90’s.
Here’s the background on this complex story:
The evil Dr. Deflation has escaped from Air Max security prison and is hellbent on stealing all of the world’s air. The Air Alliance made up of Charles Barkley, Ken Griffey Jr., Bo Jackson, Clay Matthews, Kevin Durant, Megan Rapinoe, and Allyson Felix, are on a mission to defeat him. See how the saga unfolds.
Each athlete has their own super power. Wait for Barkley’s power at the end, it’s an instant classic.
The real question is whether this tops the original Pro Stars cartoon.
They don’t have as many sports covered but it’s hard to argue with Bo, MJ and The Great One as a super hero team. Which team would you rather have solving your sports themed super-villain issues?
