I don’t usually like birthday posts, but for the greatest of all time, I’ll make an exception. Today, Michael Jordan turns 49 marking 9 years since his last game of professional basketball. Since then he has stayed an avid gambler, maintained ownership of a very bad NBA team and got engaged to an incredibly hot babe by the name of Yvette Prieto. All of these things still do not overshadow what the MJ’s legacy is and will forever be – the greatest basketball player to ever do it. You can talk about Kobe, LeBron and all of the other greats, but there will never be another No. 23. Ever. Rookie of the Year (1985); 10-time All-NBA First Team (1987-93, 1996-98); Defensive Player of the Year (1988); nine-time All-Defensive First Team (1988-93, 1996-98); 14-time All-Star; All-Star MVP (1988, ’96, ’98); Olympic gold medalist (1984, ’92); five-time MVP (1988, ’91, ’92, ’96, ’98); and the one that all greats are measured by, six-time NBA champion (1991-93, 1996-98).
Its safe to say we will never see another “His Airness,” but that’s why on days like this we sit and watch old clips and highlights of his best games, unreal hops and epic shots. This one’s for you MJ. Happy Birthday.
