Earlier this week, we posted about what looked to be bad news about Celtics’ forward Jeff Green’s health. Unfortunately, that news has been confirmed today. The Celtics announced that Jeff Green will miss the entire NBA season because of an aortic aneurysm which was found during a routine physical.
“While we are saddened that Jeff will not be able to play this season, the most important thing is his health, and we were fortunate to have access to an amazing team of specialists to evaluate Jeff’s case,” Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said. “The entire Celtics family supports Jeff during this difficult time in his career.”
Green’s one-year $9M contract with the Celtics will presumably be voided, but the Celtic retain rights to the player they acquired from Oklahoma City. Green will undergo surgery on January 9th. We hope he has speedy recovery.
