Josh Allen has enjoyed tremendous success this season. But is a big reason why on their way out of Buffalo? Allen’s prodigious 2024 season has earned him strong MVP consideration. He’s played well before, but the former first-round pick has never looked this good. Allen and the Bills are just sixty minutes away from the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl appearance. They are, of course, after their first title.
Before they can get there though, they might have to worry about retaining Joe Brady.
The sought-after Bills assistant coach will head back to Louisiana, a familiar stop, as another team covets him. That team is none other than the New Orleans Saints.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday night that the Saints will hold a second interview with Brady, who worked at LSU during their National Championship season of 2019. So he’d return to the Bayou if he came around.
Allen has been very sharp under Brady since he joined the staff in 2022. Brady has remained a hot name in the coaching circles since his work with Joe Burrow and LSU in 2019. He’s worked in the NFL since 2020, serving for two years with the Carolina Panthers. But he’s left his mark with the Bills. Allen has seen steady improvements under his tutelage and may have put together his best season yet under him in 2024.
Committing fewer turnovers along the way, Allen progressed very well in 2024. He emerged as a significant MVP candidate and is on the verge of making his first Super Bowl. Brady has been a big reason for his success on the coaching angle. He’s shown terrific prowess over the years both in college and in the NFL, but most especially with the Bills.
Evidently, the Saints think he’s ready for a head coaching job. Getting a second interview is a strong tell of what could happen next. But the Bills have to hope he stays.
So it goes. We’ll see where the carousel spins, and whether Buffalo and Allen will have to account for a major loss on their coaching staff.
