The Philadelphia Eagles were able to get by the Los Angeles Rams and advance to an NFC Championship Game matchup with the Washington Commanders. But going into the game, the Eagles may have a problem when it comes to the health of star quarterback Jalen Hurts.
In the second quarter of Sunday’s win over the Rams, Hurts seemingly injured his left knee after taking a sack. For much of the remainder of the game, he was not nearly as mobile as he was prior to the sack that he took.
Subsequently, the Eagles offense struggled as a result of this. Outside of a big 78-yard touchdown run from Saquon Barkley, the Eagles didn’t mount that much offense in the second half outside of field goals.
Obviously, the question now is whether Jalen Hurts will be at or anywhere near 100 percent against the Commanders.
Well, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport appears to highly doubt it.
On Monday, Rapoport sharing a report on Hurts’ health on Monday saying that it will depend on how well Hurts responds to treatment this week to determine whether Hurts will be as mobile as he needs to be to be a big factor in Sunday’s game.
“I really do think that’s significant,” said Rapoport of Hurts’ knee injury. “He is going to play on Sunday. I don’t have any doubt about that. Doesn’t seem like there is really much structurally there. He seems to be in pain. It seems like his knee came out okay. But my question is, is he going to be as mobile as he needs to be. Because the Jalen Hurts that kind of stands in the pocket and reads is very good. But not the potential MVP candidate like when he use his legs and create and scramble. How mobile he can be on Sunday will go a long way in determining whether the Eagles will play on.”

Despite Hurts’ injury concerns, it seems like most expect for the Eagles to handle their NFC East rivals in this matchup.
Currently, the Eagles sit as 5.5-point favorites on the majority of sportsbooks over the Commanders. But with that being said, that is perhaps subject to change should it become more clear that Hurts’ knee injury could be an issue for him when the two teams take the field on Sunday.
