Aaron Glenn has been a hot coaching candidate this offseason. After the Detroit Lions’ shocking playoff loss, the team’s defensive coordinator is holding interviews to potentially become the head coach of another team.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the New York Jets will hold a second interview with the Lions defensive coordinator this week. Glenn, a former Jet, would return to his old stomping grounds if the team hired him.
“DC Aaron Glenn, one of the top coaching candidates, is set for an in-person, second interview with the Jets,” Rapoport said citing himself and fellow insider Mike Garafolo.
#Lions DC Aaron Glenn, one of the top coaching candidates, is set for an in-person, second interview with the #Jets, per me and @MikeGarafolo.

The Jets drafted Glenn originally in 1994. He went on to make his home in New York for the next nine seasons. Jets fans have plenty of familiarity with him. His work has spoken for itself the past few seasons and he’s more than earned himself a head coaching job.
Glenn was in the news earlier this offseason after refusing to interview with the New England Patriots. He was unhappy over the way the Patriots handled their coaching situation after they dumped Jerod Mayo after one year at the helm.
Glenn has worked under Dan Campbell with the Lions since the 2021 NFL season.
Detroit might lose both coordinators this offseason, as offensive coordinator Ben Johnson remains a hot name in coaching circles. That could put the Lions in a very precarious position. As we’ve seen though, that’s just the cycle in the NFL. The Lions will just have to get used to it quick.
The NFL world reacted to the news that he could be on the move.

First Tipping Point Drops.
Aaron Glenn doesn’t appear to be on #DaBears Final Interview List. https://t.co/NXrSJAlxgA

Getting Glenn out of the North and keeping Hafley in Green Bay would be a win-win.
Not sure how many coaches could have gotten that Lions defense to play like they did for most of the year https://t.co/biyGr7D0sP
