The Cleveland Browns are coming off of arguably the most disappointing season in franchise history, given the expectations entering the year. The Browns expected to not only make a run at winning the AFC North but also to have a serious chance of making a run at the Kansas City Chiefs AFC dominant.

Instead, the Browns finished the year 3-14 and earned the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Offensive Coordinator Ken Dorsey was fired quickly after the season wrapped, and now the organization is looking to fill the vacancy quickly in order to get its ducks in a row as quickly as possible to start focusing on turning things around.

Now, according to one prominent league insider, Cleveland is moving forward with the process of filling the hole in its staff, and one already-on-staff candidate is emerging.

The (Browns )have interviewed Tommy Rees for their vacant OC job, as the TEs coach and passing game specialist gets the chance for a promotion, sources say,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“I don’t think this is the correct move, if you felt this way you could’ve promoted him mid season,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I’m actually starting to understand this move. If Kevin is calling plays again and running the offense then let the OC be a pass game specialist and draw up schemes to help Kevin’s plays,” one fan added.

“Terrible at Bama and ND, but surely the awesome collection of talent in Cleveland will reveal how good he really is. Failing upwards. … Well, I guess going to the Browns isn’t upwards. Failing sideways?” another fan added.

“So now go to someone who has no experience as an OC. FIRE Andrew Berry. Bring in new GM,” someone else wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Browns go through with promoting Rees.
