The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit faced off in the NFL’s regular-season finale on Sunday night. It was fitting that the league chose to feature the game to close out the 2024-25 season because the stakes could not have been higher.
The winner of the game not only claimed the NFC North title for the season but walked away with the first overall seed in the NFC. This is important because only the first seed in each conference earns the highly coveted bye in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
The Lions pulled away from Minnesota in the second half, winning the game 31-9, with the Vikings failing to record a single touchdown.
Although the game wasn’t all that close, unaware that cameras would pick up his every move, Lions head coach Dan Campbell had a surprising private message for Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.
“I’ll see you in two weeks,” Campbell said in a clip that’s making the rounds on social media. It’s clear he thinks the Vikings will make easy work of their playoff opponents en route to a rematch with Detroit.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“He’s right. Vikes probably beating Rams,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Eagles and Bucs are winning so yep, rematch in this exact place two weeks from now,” one fan added.
“It’s because the Lions do not want to see the Rams. Nobody does. Not because they’re more talented or are the most complete team…it’s because they have the a high ceiling if they click. 9 can steal souls when kept clean and the running game moves the chains. Young D can keep up,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Campbell’s prediction comes true.
