The New York Giants officially put an end to the Daniel Jones era when they released their former franchise quarterback mid-season, allowing him to sign with the Minnesota Vikings ultimately. After a disappointing 3-14 season, many expected that Jones wouldn’t be the only casualty of the season, with changes to the coaching staff and front office soon to follow.
Now, according to the team’s official website, Giants owner John Mara has revealed his final decision regarding his coaching staff and general manager.
“Now that our season is over, we felt it necessary to make this statement. Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will continue in their respective roles with the organization. As disappointing as the results of the season have been, Steve (Tisch) and I remain confident in the process that Joe and Brian have implemented and their vision for our team. We look forward to the future and achieving the results we all desire.”
Fans reacted to the statement on social media.
“I think retaining Brian Daboll is the right decision. The next step should be exploring a trade for JJ McCarthy or Joe Milton. Alternatively, as I mentioned in another thread, you could wait until Day 2 of the draft to take a shot on QBs like Jalen Milroe, Carson Beck, or Kyle McCord. This approach would allow you to keep your 3rd overall pick to draft a talent like Mason Graham, Will Johnson, or Travis Hunter,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“If you want to understand why certain teams are perpetually incompetent, take five minutes reviewing Joe Schoen’s tenure as Giants GM and consider why he still holds that position. It makes no sense if the goal is winning a Super Bowl,” one fan added.
“Giants fans, our condolences for a poor 2025 season ahead of time…..sorry guys,” another fan added.
“If only Tom Coughlin, who I don’t know actually won something was given this kind of leash……at least we know we’ll average 10 points a game and draft top 3 next year so we don’t have to waste our Sundays watching,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the continuity pays off for the Giants.
