On Wednesday night, the Detroit Pistons won their fourth game in five tries, 105-96, against the Orlando Magic.
Despite the win, though, Detroit suffered a significant loss.
Early in the fourth quarter of the victory, Magic guard Cole Anthony dove for a loose ball and fell directly into Ivey’s planted leg, sending the Pistons player to the ground immediately.
Ivey immediately held his leg, and Detroit’s training staff put up towels around the scene so fans wouldn’t see the injury.
Players from both teams appeared shaken up by the injury, as Ivey left the court on a stretcher.

“It is tough for all of us. There’s no better person or teammate than J.I. and no one cares more about this than he does. I give the guys credit for getting it done,” Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff said after the game.
“They care about him and they didn’t want to let him down,” he added.
Thursday morning, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Ivey suffered a broken left fibula in the collision.
Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey has sustained a broken fibula in his left leg, sources tell ESPN. Ivey has had a career season for the resurgent Pistons in his third year, averaging 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4 assists. He exited Wednesday’s game on a stretcher. pic.twitter.com/0L18GXH0lW

While a timetable for return hasn’t been announced, Ivey’s injury is likely season-ending.
In 30 games, the former Purdue Boilermaker averaged a career-high 17.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He also raised his shooting percentage to a career-best 46%.
