The Las Vegas Raiders announced their starting quarterback for Monday night. When the Raiders take the field against the Atlanta Falcons, Desmond Ridder will be under center.
The former Falcon will start against his former team, the Raiders revealed on Monday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Monday morning.
“Raiders QB Desmond Ridder is expected to start tonight vs. the Falcons,” Schefter wrote. He added that Aidan O’Connell, the other Raider quarterback, “is listed as questionable and is expected to work out pregame to see if he can play, but Ridder is expected to start for now.”

Ridder spent nearly two seasons with the Falcons from 2022 to 2023. Atlanta cut ties with Ridder after though, instead opting for Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr. as their quarterbacks. Thus far, that experiment has gone… as expected. The Falcons aren’t quite out of it but they’re not quite threatening either.
Ridder and the Raiders have had their series of woes this season. They are once again one of the league’s most beleaguered franchises. They’re set to pick high in next year’s NFL Draft again, and who knows where they could go.
For now though, they hope to finish strong.
With any luck, with a dose of revenge behind him, Ridder and the Raiders could pull off a stunner.
