The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most impressive teams in the NFL this season. Despite being picked to finish last in the AFC North by most experts, the Steelers are heading into this weekend’s clash with the Baltimore Ravens at 7-2, good for sole possession of first place in the division.
However, it seems there have been a couple of hiccups behind the scenes, per one Steelers-centric Twitter account.
Safety DeShon Elliott made a post on Instagram referring to head coach Mike Tomlin as “Osama Bin Tomlin” after the head coach replaced Justin Fields with Russell Wilson at the quarterback position. Apparently, the post ruffled some feathers.
“DeShon Elliott says Omar Khan made him take down his ‘Osama Bin Tomlin’ Instagram Post down: ‘Mr. Rooney, I think he was getting letters to his house, something like that from certain companies that he knows very well. And so then the GM Omar Khan reached out to my agent and had me delete it,’” reported Blitzburgh.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Can’t even make jokes nowadays smh,” one fan said on Twitter.
“not sure why he would post it in the first place, keep ts as a locker room joke or something,” one fan added.
“Good…its not “PROFESSIONAL” in any way shape or form,” one fan added.
“Some things need to stay in the locker room,” a fan added.
“Did he really think that was a smart thing to do,” one fan added.
While Elliott certainly meant the post as a joke, it’s important to remember there is a time and a place for everything.
